Extraordinary claims.
Ordinary fact-checking.
Say what the number means.
An auction result, an asking price and an estimate are different things, and so are a fortune on paper and money in the bank. Every article says which one it is using, with dates and currencies. Stories end with a list of their sources, and rankings keep a source beside each entry, so a figure can be followed back to where it came from.
Reported in our own words.
Our stories are about money, privilege and fame. They are written from court filings, company reports, official statistics and reputable reporting, including the local-language press. When a figure or a finding comes from another publication, the story names it. Estimates are labelled as estimates, and we do not publish invented quotations.
Our auction articles are researched historical selections. Wealth, company and cinema rankings are dated snapshots of named public datasets. They explain their coverage and metric: estimated net worth, market capitalisation and box-office revenue are different measures. A saved ranking is not a live price feed.
Bylines are pen names.
Stories appear under house bylines, one for each section: Penny Worth for Business, Chip Ledger for Tech, Ann Tique for Culture, Monty Carlo for Lifestyle and Jetta Way for Travel. They are pen names, not individual reporters, so they carry no biographies or photographs. The standards on this page apply to every story published under them.
Images with an honest caption.
Story photographs are openly licensed or in the public domain, and each story credits the photographer, the licence and any cropping at the foot of the page. Original illustrations are labelled as illustrations, and watch photographs keep their recorded credits and source links. Decorative shapes are not financial charts or pictures of the people and companies in a ranking.
Eleven languages, shared facts.
English, Hindi, Brazilian Portuguese, Vietnamese, Russian, Ukrainian, Traditional Chinese for Taiwan, Simplified Chinese for Singapore, French, German and Spanish editions share the same figures and source links. Translation is assisted by software, and payment instructions are reviewed separately. Names, public messages and payment identifiers are left as written. Please report any wording that needs correcting.

Corrections.
A last-checked date means the source material was reviewed on that day. New information may justify a correction or a revised scope. To report an error, email support@outbragger.com with the article link, the detail that needs correcting and a source we can check.
